MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Spring Hill College volleyball team lost to Webber International University 3-0, but bounced back to defeat Martin Methodist College 3-0 at the final day of the annual Faulkner University Invitational Tournament on Saturday.
In the afternoon match, WIU (3-1) took a hard-fought 30-28 victory in the first set and then squeaked out 25-21 and 25-22 wins in the second and third sets for the win. Sophomore Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., had 14 kills and freshman Taylor Lahasky of New Iberia, La., tallied 23 digs in the day's first match.
At the evening match versus Martin Methodist (1-4), the Badgers won 25-9, 25-11 and then out-dueled MMC 27-25 to take the third set. Junior Sha Sha Buchanan of Mobile had 16 kills while junior Meredith Donald of Mobile collected 13 digs. Badger setter junior Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., passed around 40 assists in the match.
The Badgers (8-3) will travel to New Orleans, La., on Tuesday for a non-conference match at Xavier University (4-2) at 7 p.m.
