CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College women's soccer team opened its Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) schedule with a 4-0 loss at 2nd-ranked Lee University on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Flames (4-1, 1-0 SSAC) opened the scoring in the 2nd minute when Chloe Woody scored off an assist by Ode Fulutudilu and then added a second goal in the 5th minute when Leah Fortune accepted a corner kick from Amy Cochran for a tally.
Lee made it 3-0 at the intermission when Ashley Aragona scored off a pass by Danielle Ciabattone in the 28th minute. Fortune closed out the scoring in the 49th minute after an assist by Debbie Rogers.
Freshman Maggie Dalessio of St. Augustine, Fla. took the loss in goal and made three saves against 11 Lee shots while Leah Wilson was the winner for the Flames with two saves against four SHC shots.
Spring Hill (3-4, 0-1 SSAC) will next travel to Gainesville, Ga., to face the Brenau University Golden Tigers (4-2, 0-1 SSAC) in a conference match beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
