GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The Spring Hill College women's soccer team came up on the short end of a 4-1 conference outcome at Brenau University on Saturday night.
Brenau (5-2, 1-1 SSAC) opened the scoring in the 7th minute of play with a tally by Esther Bu Anyanwu off an assist by Linda Chukwuji and then made it 2-0 in the 28th minute off a goal by Kayla Bu Madsen following the pass by Esther Anyanwu.
Spring Hill notched a score in the 37th minute with a goal by freshman Amanda Allen of New Orleans, La., with an assist by sophomore Erin Brennan from St. Louis, Mo., to make it 2-1 at the intermission.
The Golden Tigers continued to roll in the 2nd half, however, as Anyanwu made it 3-1 in the 75th minute with an assist by Chukwuji. Jenny Bu Knibbs then salted the match away in the 89th minute via Anyanwu's third assist of the contest.
Freshman Badger goalkeeper Maggie Dalessio of St. Augustine, Fla., made five saves against 20 BU shots while Tori Brown made three saves for Brenau against nine shots by Spring Hill. Brenau took 10 corner kicks and allowed SHC just three attempts from the corners.
Spring Hill (3-5, 0-2 SSAC) will next host conference opponent Truett-McConnell College (4-4, 0-2 SSAC) on Friday at 2 p.m. on Library Field.
