TOCCOA, Ga. – The Spring Hill College women's golf team took a 1st place finish out of eight teams at Emmanuel College Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at The Currahee Club.
The Badgers shot a two-round total of 659 (334, 325, +83) over the 5932-yard, 72-par course to finish 22 strokes ahead of 2nd place finisher the University of Mobile (349, 332, +105).
Individually, Badger junior Avery Kyle of Plano, Texas, won the event with a score of +7 (74, 77, 151) to out-distance the 39 other competitors and seven strokes under than 2nd place Devin Pigford of Mobile.
Freshman Alex Ryals of Gulf Shores, Ala., shot a +24 (87, 81, 168) to finish in a 7th place tie with teammate junior Katie Callahan of Prairie Village, Kan., who shot identical scores of 87 and 81.
Freshman Joanna Holt of SHC placed 12th with scores of 86 and 86 to card a +28 (181). Junior Audrey Dombrowski of St. Louis, Mo., notched a +37 (86, 95, 181) for 18th position as sophomore Rachel Failla of New Orleans, La., closed in 20th place with a +40 score of 184 (94, 90)
The Badgers next tee it up on Oct. 6-8, 2012, at the Southern Shootout hosted by Birmingham Southern College at the Highland Park Golf Club in Birmingham, Ala.
