The Spring Hill College volleyball team ran past the Dillard University Lady Bleu Devils in a non-conference match on Tuesday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center by a 3-0 final with the scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-13.
Spring Hill used an 8-0 run behind the serving of sophomore Sami Maurer of St. Louis, Mo., in the 1st set to build out a17-7 lead and then took a quick 6-0 advantage in the 2nd set before an 11-point service run by junior Sha Sha Buchanan of Mobile salted away the 3rd set.
The Badgers were paced on offense by redshirt freshman Sami Hantak of St. Louis who tallied 13 kills while junior setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., dished out 27 assists. Defensively, junior Meredith Donald from Mobile collected 10 digs and freshman Abby Allard of Belleville, Ill., had 11 receptions.
Dillard (1-2) was led by Aisha Ogbeveon with four kills, 27 receptions and nine digs. Jessica Goods-Morris made four solo blocks and collected four kills while setter Shelbi White distributed 11 assists.
As a team, Spring Hill College built a .271 attack percentage (36-13-85) and held Dillard to a -.037 attack percentage (15-18-80).
The Badgers (14-3, 4-0 SSAC) will host Emmanuel College (13-5, 2-1 SSAC) in a conference match at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Friday at 7 p.m.
