The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named men's soccer player Tyler Hartlage and women's cross country runner Makena Lidie as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their accomplishments during the week of September 17-23, 2012.
Hartlage, a sophomore forward from Tampa, Fla., scored twice including the game-winning goal in the 70th minute in the Badgers' 3-2 upset of Lee University on Friday in Cleveland, Tenn. For the year, Hartlage leads Spring Hill with eight goals scored and three game-winning goals.
Lidie, a freshman from Lake Forest, Calif., ran her first collegiate event at the Gulf Coast Stampede hosted by the University of West Florida in Pensacola on Saturday and overcame a nagging ankle problem to cross the finish line as the top Badger and NAIA runner in a time of 20.33.40 over the 5-kilometer course.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
