The Spring Hill College women's soccer team snapped a five-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 conference victory over Southern Wesleyan University afternoon at Library Field.
SHC took a 1-0 lead over the Warriors (4-4-1, 0-3-1 SSAC) in the 34th minute of play when freshman Kari Vitucci of Cedarburg, Wis., found redshirt freshman Courtney Harlan of Mobile who then lifted a beautifully placed pass into sophomore Erin Brennan of St. Louis, Mo., for the score.
Spring Hill added a 2nd goal in the 61st minute when Harlan sent an entry pass into the box where sophomore Theresa Carr of St. Louis slipped a quick backward scrape pass to freshman Hannah Michael of New Orleans, La., who found the back of the net from less than five yards out.
The day's final tally was provided by sophomore Megan Fox of Niceville, Fla., off Harlan's third assist of the day in the 76th minute.
Badger sophomore Abby Massengale of New Orleans made three saves in goal against six SWU shots as her counterpart Ashley Robinson of Southern Wesleyan made four saves versus 13 Spring Hill shots. SHC attempted three corner kicks and limited SWU to just one try from the corner.
Spring Hill (4-6, 1-3 SSAC) will next travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., for a conference tilt at 8th-ranked William Carey University (8-2-1, 3-1 SSAC) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
