FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Spring Hill College women's soccer team rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the 2nd half, but came up short in a 3-2 conferenced loss at the Lady Lions of Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Lions (6-9, 2-6 SSAC) held a 2-0 lead at the intermission and scored a third goal 10 minutes into the 2nd period. The Badgers refused to back down, however, and made it a 3-1 game in the 70th minute when sophomore Erin Claxton from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, lifted a free kick into freshman Hannah Michael of New Orleans, La., who fed the ball to freshman Amanda Allen from New Orleans who put SHC on the board.
Spring Hill then cut it to just a 3-2 shortfall seven minutes later when Claxton used a corner kick to assist Michael. Unfortunately for the Badgers, the Lions would hold on from there to secure the win.
Freshman Maggie Dalessio (1-8) of St. Augustine, Fla., took the loss in goal and made four saves against 12 total shots.
Spring Hill (5-9, 2-6 SSAC) will next host the 12th-ranked Auburn University Montgomery (AUM ) Warhawks (9-3-1, 4-3 SSAC) in a conference match on Saturday at Library Field beginning at 1 p.m.
