The Spring Hill College volleyball team rolled past non-conference foe Southern University-New Orleans (SUNO) in a 3-0 result by the scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-12 at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Thursday evening.

The Badgers set the tone early in the 1st set by bolting out to a 6-1 bulge and holding as much as a 20-10 advantage before closing out the series at 25-12.

Set No. 2 saw Spring Hill use a flurry of reserves, but the Badgers still maintained the momentum and took a 22-12 lead. The Knights (16-6), however, mounted a late rally to pull within 24-20 until a kill by freshman Ginny Hicks of Salt Lake City, Utah, ended the set at 25-20.

Spring Hill continued to dominate the action in the 3rd set by jumping out to 13-3 and 20-6 leads before coasting to the 25-12 final score.

Junior Sha Sha Buchanan of Mobile ripped out 12 kills and two blocks for SHC as sophomore Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., collected 11 kills and 4.5 blocks. Junior setter Taryn Nash from Independence, Mo., contributed 29 assists to the Badger cause while junior libero Meredith Donald of Mobile got under 11 digs and eight receptions.

SUNO's Zipporah Washington had nine kills, 17 receptions and nine digs while Stephanie Buhl handed out 22 assists.

As a team, Spring Hill attacked at a .407 (41-6-86) pace and held SUNO to a .042 (28-24-96) attack percentage. The Badgers blocked 10 shots and served up five aces as the Knights had just one block and three services aces.

The Badgers (24-3) will next visit Tougaloo College (16-7) in Jackson, Miss., for a non-conference match on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
