NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Spring Hill College volleyball team soared past Dillard University for a 3-0 non-conference road win on Tuesday evening by the scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-15.
With the victory, head coach Dr. Peggy Martin earned her 102nd career win at Spring Hill College to break the previous mark of 101 held by Gretchen S. Boykin from 2001-2004. In her fourth season at Spring Hill, Martin now holds a 102-27 (.791) mark and a career record of 1166-308-8 (.789).
Junior Badger setter Taryn Nash from Independence, Mo., recorded 28 assists in the contest as she also surpassed the SHC career record for assists with her 3585 handouts breaking the previous mark of 3578 set by Carley Whitfield during the 2002-2004 seasons. Nash additionally tallied nine digs and four kills on her day's totals.
Redshirt freshman Sami Hantak from St. Louis, Mo., smashed down 10 kills to lead the SHC attack against the Bleu Devils (3-9) while sophomore Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., had nine kills and freshman Ginny Hicks of Salt Lake City, Utah, collected eight kills.
The Badgers (27-3) will host Shorter University (15-5) in a non-conference contest on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
