The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named soccer players Jose Mario Escalante and Abby Massengale as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their outstanding efforts on the pitch during the week of October 15-21, 2012.

Escalante, a sophomore forward from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, tallied a hat trick with all three Badger goals in a 3-3 draw with 5th-ranked Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) on Saturday afternoon at Library Field. So far this season, Mario has five goals and three assists for 13 total points.

Massengale, a sophomore goalkeeper from New Orleans, La., made 12 saves against 31 shots by 19th-ranked Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) on Saturday at Library Field. In the 99th minute of play, Abby made back-to-back stops of consecutive shots by the Warhawks' Eyrun Rakel Agnarsdottir within 4 seconds to preserve a 0-0 draw. On the season, she has a total of 26 saves and a 4-1-1 record with two shutouts in goal.

In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
