The Shorter University Hawks stopped the Spring Hill College volleyball team's 20-match winning streak with a 3-0 decision on Saturday afternoon by the scores of 25-22, 29-27, 25-22 at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
Spring Hill was paced by junior Sha Sha Buchanan of Mobile, Ala., who knocked down 13 kills and junior setter Taryn Nash from Independence, Mo., who handed out 40 assists. Junior libero Meredith Donald of Mobile scooped in 20 digs while sophomore Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., collected 11 kills and a solo block.
NCAA Division 2 member Shorter (18-5) was led by Jasmine Crook with 14 kills and a solo block while setter Jordan Corder distributed 40 assists with 17 digs.
The loss also snapped a 25-match home winning streak by the Badgers that dated back to October 30, 2010, when NCAA Division 2 foe Alabama-Huntsville nipped SHC by a 3-2 score.
The Badgers (27-4, 13-0 SSAC) will close out the 2012 regular season on Thursday at 7 p.m. when they host conference foe and arch-rivals the University of Mobile Lady Rams (22-10, 7-6 SSAC) in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
