CLINTON, Miss. – The Spring Hill College women's cross country team finished in 7th position out of 12 teams at the 2012 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Women's Championships held at Choctaw Trails on Saturday morning.
As a team, the Badgers scored 189 points and ran a total time of 1:49:08.19 in an average of 21:49.64.
Individually, junior Emily Dolan of Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School finished 9th out of 91 runners and qualified for the 2012 NAIA National Championships with a time of 19:57.31 over the 5,000-meter course as did senior Payton Tanner of Fairhope, Ala., who placed 12th in a time of 20:12.00.
Senior Melissa Menendez of Miami, Fla., crossed the line in 22:30.42 for 55th place while senior Kiearstan Carter of Murphy High School in Mobile finished in 63rd position a mark of 23:00.89. Junior Claire Stewart of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., placed 68th in a time of 23:27.57 and freshman Katie Dolan from Mobile rounded out the Badger runners in 71st position at 23:42.87.
The NAIA National Meet will be held in Vancouver, Wash, on Saturday, November 17, with a 10:30 a.m. start time.
