LEBANON, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2012-13 season with a 79-64 non-conference road loss to the Cumberland University (Tenn.) Lady Bulldogs on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (2-0) led 41-27 at halftime and built out a 61-34 advantage with 14 minutes remaining in the contest.
Freshman Leah Washington of Houma, La., scored 14 points with eight rebounds to lead the Badgers in both categories.
As a team, the Badgers shot 37.7% (20-53) from the field and 29.4% (5-17) from 3-point range.
Four members of the Cumberland squad reached double digits with London Elie dropping in 24 points and Jessica Pace adding 22 points with 12 rebounds.
The Bulldogs were 47.5% (29-61) overall in shooting and 23.1% (3-13) from behind the arc. Cumberland also won the rebounding war by a 44-32 margin.
Spring Hill (1-1) will next travel to Waleska, Ga., on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. non-conference contest with the Reinhardt University Eagles (1-1).
