The Spring Hill women's basketball team defeated Emmanuel College by a final score of 70-50 to cap a perfect SSAC conference weekend home stand Saturday night. The Badgers picked right up where they left off after Friday night's victory over Brenau and raced out to a 44-24 lead at the half.
Emmanuel would even things up in the second half as the teams played to a virtual draw, but by that time the Badgers had already connected with the knockout blow. Spring Hill continued to click on all cyclinders in the second half and stretched the lead out to as much asa 31 point margin at the 16:05 mark in the period. The margin would continue hover around 26-28 points until the closing minutes when the Badgers emptied the bench.
Offensively, the Badger shooting cooled a bit from the previous night, however the team managed to shoot 38.7% overall and 40.0% from three point land. The charity stripe was kind to the Badgers as they collectively knocked down 16 of 21 free throws for a 76.2% clip.
Defensively, Spring Hill held Emmanuel in check all night long. The Lions could only manage 34.5% from the floor and an ice cold 12.5%from three point territory. The Badgers also out rebounded the Lions by a 45-36 margin.
Individually, the Badgers were paced by 15 points from Jamesha Watkins. Kristin Rodgers turned in another solid performance adding 12 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to aid the Badger cause. As a team, eleven Badger players would find their way into the scoring column on the night.
Emmanuel was led by 10 points from Victoria Rodgers and 13 rebounds by Joreshica Martin.
The Badgers will now take 12 days off before traveling to Marietta, Georgia to take on the Southern Polytechnic State University in an SSAC battle on November 30th. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 5:30 PM Eastern Standard Time.
