MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Spring Hill college volleyball team took home eight individual awards from the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) at the 2012 Conference Awards Banquet on Thursday night.

Junior Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., was honored with recognition as the 2012 SSAC Setter of the Year and selection to the 2012 All-Conference Team. Nash appeared in 127 sets out 128 played by the Badgers this year and distributed 1309 total assists for a 10.31 assists per set average. She also collected 98 kills and a .384 attack percentage to go along with 261 digs, 35 aces and 40 total blocks.

Sha Sha Buchanan, a junior middle hitter from Mobile, Ala., was also named to the All-Conference Team with 421 kills, and a .339 attack percentage. Buchanan was second on the Badger squad with 119 total blocks as well as 29 aces and 84 digs.

Sophomore middle hitter Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., was the third Badger to make the 1st team of the All-Conference roster with 421 kills, a .311 attack percentage and a team-leading 126 total blocks.

Junior libero Meredith Donald from Mobile was named to the 2nd team All-Conference squad with a total of 551 digs, nine kills and nine service aces.

Two Spring Hill newcomers were named to 2012 SSAC All-Freshmen Team as right side hitter Sami Hantak of St. Louis, Mo. and outside hitter Ginny Hicks of Salt Lake City, Utah, earned the honor. Hantak achieved 260 kills, a .240 attack percentage, and 75 total blocks on the year while outside hitter Hicks tallied 230 kills, a .180 attack percentage, 59 digs and 58 total blocks.

Sophomore Maddie LaForge of New Orleans, La., was named as the SHC representative on the 2012 Musco Lighting-SSAC Champions of Character Team with appearances in all 128 sets played by the Badgers this year with 55 kills, 11 blocks, nine aces and 90 digs.
