The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named basketball players Robert Gipson and Sha Sha Buchanan as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their accomplishments on the court during the week of December 3-9, 2012.
Gipson, a junior guard from Mobile's W.P. Davidson High School, scored 14 points with five rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots at 21st-ranked SUNO on Saturday evening. For the season, he is averaging 7.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 38.5% (30-78) from the field
Buchanan, a junior forward from Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School, recorded a school-record six blocked shots at Southern Polytechnic State University on Friday. She has 20 blocked shots in nine games this season while scoring 7.9 points per game with 7.3 rebounds per game.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
