Spring Hill College has announced the resignation of Michael Kreider as head coach of its men's and women's tennis teams as a result of his decision to move closer to his family in Atlanta, Ga., and to pursue other career opportunities.
"I'm leaving behind fond memories of my years at Spring Hill," said Kreider. "I feel that I'm leaving one family to be with another. The players, coaches, faculty and student body are tremendous here and I realize why people who work and attend Spring Hill say that it is a great experience that you have to be part of to appreciate."
Kreider served as the head coach of the Badger tennis programs since 2010 and built a men's record of 11-21 along with a women's record of 16-15 in two seasons. In 2012, Kreider directed the Badgers' ladies team to a 9-5 record and their first trip to the NAIA National Tournament since 2004.
"I want to thank Michael for all of his good work and dedication to our tennis programs over the last two years," said SHC Director of Athletics Jim Hall. "I am disappointed at losing such a quality person from our staff, but I completely understand his motives and intentions in making a decision that he feels is in the best interests of his family. I wish him nothing but the best as he begins this new chapter in his life."
Spring Hill will begin its search for a new tennis coach immediately.
