The Spring Hill College women's basketball snapped a six-game losing skid with a 64-49 non-conference victory over Dillard University on Monday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Lady Bleu Devils of Dillard (1-7) held a 13-6 lead eight minutes into the game, but the Badgers rallied behind the hot 3-point shooting of freshman guard Natalie Harper of Greensboro, N.C., to build a 13-point advantage at 33-20 with two minutes to go until the half.
In the 2nd half, SHC continued to be hot from the outside while also using defense to force Dillard into turnovers and Badger fast break points. Spring Hill built out a 53-21 bulge with 8½ minutes to play and from there coasted to the 15-point victory.
Harper dropped in a career-high 20 points with six 3-point buckets as Spring Hill out-rebounded Dillard 64-49. The Badgers also used eight steals to force the Lady Devils into 17 turnovers.
As a team, SHC shot 42.6% (23-54) including 33.3% (6-18) from 3-point distance.
Dillard's Jazzmin Smith scored 19 points while Alena Evans had 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Devils were 35.2% (19-54) from the floor and just 15.4% (2-13) in 3-point attempts. Dillard took away 11 steals as the Badgers turned the ball over 25 times.
The Badgers (4-8) will host Tennessee Temple University (3-6) in a non-conference game on Wednesday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center beginning at 5:30 p.m.
