The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named basketball players Ben Redman and Leah Washington as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their efforts on the hardwood during the week of January 1-6, 2013.
Redman, a redshirt freshman point guard from Spanish Fort, Ala., scored 10 points with six assists, four steals and a blocked shot in the Badgers' 23-point come-from-behind victory over Southern Wesleyan University on Friday night. So far in the 2012-13 season, he is averaging 4.3 points and 3.7 assists per game to go along with 25 rebounds and 17 steals.
Washington, a freshman center from Houma, La., came off the bench to score 14 points and collect 10 rebounds in two games this week. She has appeared in all 15 Badger games this year and is averaging 4.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 47.4% (27-57) from the field.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
