The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named basketball players Todd Martin and Elissa VandeWaa as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their efforts on the court during the week of January 21-27, 2013.
Martin, a junior guard from Mobile's St. Paul's Episcopal School, scored 17 points versus Faulkner on Saturday night while taking down five rebounds and handing out three assists. For the year, he is scoring 10.6 points with 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 40% (72-180) from the field and leading the Badgers with 43 three-point baskets.
VandeWaa, a sophomore point guard from Spanish Fort, Ala., had 31 points with eight rebounds and six assists in two games this week. So far this season, she has averaged 5.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game with a team-leading 50 assists.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
