The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championships Meet was completed at Berry College (Ga.) on Saturday following a two-week delay due to track conditions in Baton Rouge. The event was held in conjunction with the NAIA Region XIII Championships with the Spring Hill College Badgers finishing as the conference runners-up and fifth among the 10 regional competitors.
The Badgers finished with an average time of 30:31.06 over the eight-kilometer course, scoring 65 points in the conference race and 166 in the regional event.
All Conference and All Region XIII selection Patrick Aucoin, a junior from River Ridge, La., won the conference event with a time of 27:02.05 and placed seventh in Region XIII. His time has qualified him to compete for the NAIA National Championship that will be held in Kenosha, Wis., on Saturday, November 17.
The other top conference finishers for Spring Hill were Austin Fox, 29:24.43 (8th), Mark Kirkikis, 31:25.90 (16th) and David Otero, 31:52.80 (18th).
Xavier University (La.) finished as conference champions at an average time of 28:55.54 while Shorter College (Ga.) won the regional title with a time of 26:48.80 and the top four individual finishers.
