On Wednesday, Spring Hill College volleyball head coach Dr. Peggy Martin announced the signing of libero/defensive specialist Lindsey Pecoraro from Lafayette High School in Chesterfield, Mo., to an Athletic Grant in Aid.
"Lindsey comes from a great background both at the high school and club levels," says Martin. "Her high school team won the Missouri State Championship and did not lose a set during her senior year. She also plays for the Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club - one of the most competitive clubs in the St. Louis area. She has been well trained and is an athlete who loves the game and loves to compete."
Pecoraro's LHS teams won two consecutive Missouri State Championships in 2011 and 2012 with the undefeated 2012 Lancers finishing the year ranked 2nd in the nation by PrepVolleyball and 3rd by MaxPreps. As a senior, she received the MaxPreps Army National Guard Tour of Champions Award and the St. Louis Baseball Writers' Association Cathie Burnes Beebe Award for Excellence in Women's Athletics.
As a two-time All-Conference selection in 2011 and 2012, Pecoraro was a PrepVolleyball "Gym Dandy" as a senior and was selected to the MHSVCA Academic All-State Team in 2011 and 2012. In the classroom, she was a four-year Lafayette Renaissance Scholar and won the Teacher's Choice Award in 2011.
