The Spring Hill College baseball team lost a 12-3 non-conference decision to the University of Mobile on Tuesday evening at historic Stan Galle Field.
The Rams (7-8) scored single runs in the first three innings before exploding for a five-run 6th inning.
SHC starter freshman Chris Rodriguez (0-2) took the loss in five innings with 12 hits allowed along with two walks and two strikeouts.
For Mobile, starter Jacob Knowles lasted four innings with three hits, a walk and a strikeout before yielding the mound to Cole Vaughn (2-0) who went three innings with three hits, no walks and five strikeouts.
Spring Hill was led at the plate by freshman third baseman Willie Floros who was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two walks. The Rams collected 17 total hits off Badger pitching as first baseman Braxton Hamil and shortstop Payne Palmer each had three hits with Hamil blasting a 2-run homerun out of right field in the 9th inning off Badger reliever Hunter Nowak. Mobile catcher Keith Shirah had two hits and four RBI on the day.
The Badgers (7-6, 2-1 SSAC) will travel to William Carey University (6-8, 0-0 SSAC) in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Friday to start a three-game conference series with a single game beginning at 6 p.m.
