The Spring Hill College softball team moved to 8-2 on the year with a with a sweep of non-conference foe Talladega College at Murray Field on Tuesday afternoon by the scores of 8-0 and 11-2.
Freshman Caroline Sagrera (5-0) struck out 11 Tornadoes in five innings of work with just two hits, a walk and a hit batter.
In the nightcap, Badger senior Linsey Dickerson (3-1) took the win in five innings with four hits, two walks and four strikeouts.
At the plate, the Badgers amassed 20 hits in total with sophomore Shea Blanchard collecting four hits and three RBI including a leadoff homerun to left to start the second game and a double in the first game. Sophomore catcher Jade Bourgeois enjoyed a 4-for-4 first game while sophomore centerfielder Taylor Webre ripped a 2-run homer to left in the 1st inning of Game Two. Senior third baseman Mariha Partman had three hits including a double and two RBI, sophomore first baseman Elise deBruler had three hits with a double and four RBI and senior left fielder Katelyn Hinson had three hits and an RBI.
The Tornadoes (3-11) were paced by designated player Lauren Parker and second baseman Jessica Thornton with two hits each. Gina Mathes took the loss in the opener in 2.2 innings with eight hits, a walk and no strikeouts. Carlie Keenum allowed eight hits with five walks and no strikeouts in the second game loss.
Spring Hill will next host Tuskegee University (1-1) in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Murray Field beginning at 1 p.m.
