The Spring Hill College men's golf team won the championship of the annual Badger Invitational held at Spring Hill Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday with a combined team score of 619 (304, 315, +43) over the 6665-yard, par 72 course.
Individually, sophomore Robert Bo Cox of Gardendale, Ala., carded +8 score of 152 (75, 77) for a 5th place tie while senior Nathan Ceille of Hales Corner, Wis., was 10th with scores of 77 and 78 for a +11 total of 155. Senior Joseph Webster from Trussville, Ala., was 12th out of the 45 golfers competing with a +12 score of 156 (73, 83).
Sophomore Jordan Portal (83, 78) of Miami, Fla., and junior Daniel McCrea (79, 82) of Belfast, Northern Ireland, tied for 19th place with +17 totals of 161.
Individually, senior Scott Shields of Atlanta, Ga., tied for 5th place with scores with two rounds of 76 (152, +8), junior Rickie Lee of Bayou LaBatre, Ala., was 13th (82, 76, 158, +14), junior Philip Dugan of Lake Forest, Ill., was 27th (84, 81, 165, +21), junior Spencer Lane from St. Louis, Mo., was 30th (81, 85, 166, +22) and senior Chris Cartmill of Chesterfield, Mo., was 40th (84, 87, 171, +27).
Spring Hill will next shoot at the 2013 William Carey University Invitational at Canebreak Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss., on March 17-19.
