The 9th-ranked Faulkner University Eagles swept an SSAC doubleheader from the Spring Hill College baseball team by the scores of 6-0 and 11-0 on Saturday afternoon at historic Stan Galle Field.
The Eagles (21-4, 11-1 SSAC) took a 5-0 lead in the 3rd inning of the opener highlighted by a 3-run homer to right with two outs by first baseman Ethan Williams.
Senior starter Casey Adams (0-3) took the loss for the Badgers in six innings with seven hits, two walks and six strikeouts. Will Dismukes (4-0) was the winner for Faulkner in a complete-game shutout with five hits, two walks and 10 strikeouts.
The second game saw Faulkner score three runs in the 1st inning begun by a one-out solo homer to right by catcher Zak Colby as the Eagles cruised to an 11-0 victory behind the complete-game effort of Julian Esquibel (6-0) who scattered eight hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts.
Freshman Johnathan Billings (1-3) was saddled with the loss for Spring Hill in three innings with seven hits, four walks and two strikeouts.
At the plate, freshman right fielder Blake Toscano led the Badgers with three hits while sophomore catcher Ryan Stevens, senior first baseman John Hollingsworth and sophomore centerfielder Andy Robbins each had a pair of hits on the day.
The Badgers (8-13, 3-6 SSAC) will play Oklahoma Wesleyan University (13-9) in a non-conference game at 2 p.m. on Monday at Stan Galle Field.
