The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named Nick Schmiemeier and Jade Bourgeois as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their achievements on the diamonds during the week of March 4-10, 2013.
Schmiemeier, a senior pitcher from St. Louis, Mo., went seven strong innings against 9th-ranked Faulkner University on Friday night allowing just four hits with seven strikeouts as the Badgers upset the Eagles 6-5 in 10 innings. For the year, he holds a 2-1 record in five starts with a 3.67 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
Bourgeois, a sophomore catcher from Geismer, La., hit .457 (16-for-35) in 11 games this week with six doubles, eight RBI and nine runs scored. For the season, she currently leads the Badgers with a .483 average, 10 doubles and 13 RBI to go along with a .655 slugging percentage.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
