After recording an opening score of 357 in the first round of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference tournament held at the Azalea City Golf Course, the Spring Hill College women's golf team shaved 11 strokes off their combined score to post a 346 in the final round for a combined 703 (+127), finishing in 2nd place behind the University of Mobile (323, 329, +76).
Senior Jamie Mercurio of Cleveland, Ohio, shot a team best 168 (+24, 3rd) while fellow senior Mackensie Jimison of Placerville, Calif., shot a 173 (+29) over the two-day event to finish 6th out of 12 participants.
In addition to Mercurio and Jimison, freshman Victoria Gonzalez of Miami, Fla., shot 179 (+35, 8th) and sophomore Shea Bowers from Mobile finished in 9th position (183, +39). Senior Adrienne Roberts of St. Louis, Mo., knocked eight strokes off her score on the second day close with a 190 (+46, 10th). Freshman Jasmine Bowers of Mobile and sophomore Kara Broderick from Chicago, Ill., closed at 194 (+49, 11th) and 206 (+62, 12th) respectively.
Maegan Rice won the individual title for the Lady Rams with twin scores of 77 (154, +10).
The Lady Badgers play again on November 4-6 in a match against Mobile to be held at the Azalea City Golf Club.
