The Spring Hill College softball team split results in a conference cross-divisional doubleheader with the 3rd-ranked Lee University Lady Flames by winning the opener 2-0 before falling 11-4 in a wet nightcap on Friday afternoon at Murray Field.

In the opener, freshman SHC starter Caroline Sagrera (15-1) out-dueled Lee's Caroline MacAusland (4-1) by striking out 11 batters while giving up five hits and four walks in the complete-game victory.

Senior third baseman Mariha Partman and sophomore centerfielder Taylor Webre ripped solo homeruns in the 5th and 6th innings respectively to give the Badgers the upset. Sophomores Jade Bourgeois and Elise deBruler both tallied a double in the game, as well.

MacAusland allowed four hits with five walks and seven strikeouts in the loss for the Flames.

The second game turned into a long ball contest as Lee's Dominique Hannah blasted three solo homeruns and pinch hitter Charlie Wooden crushed a Grand Slam to straight-away center in the 6th inning for the Flames.

Partman's second homerun of the day was a 3-run bomb to left-center in the 4th to knot the score at 4-4, but three Badger errors and five unearned runs in the 6th frame sealed the win for Lee.

Senior Linsey Dickerson (6-3) took the loss in 5.2 innings and allowed 10 hits with two walks and a strikeout while Katie Deems (4-0) was the winner in relief by working 3.2 innings with no hits, three walks and no strikeouts.

Partman had two of the Badger's four total hits in the second game with three RBI and deBruler collected a run-scoring single to left in the 1st inning.

In addition to Hannah, the Lady Flames (24-3, 10-2 SSAC East) were paced by first baseman Lexi Dean with two hits and two RBI, Deems with two hits, and right fielder Laurel Allen who tallied a 3-for-4 effort on the day.

Spring Hill (22-5, 2-2 SSAC West) will next host the Truett-McConnell College Bears (2-11, 0-4 SSAC East) in a cross-divisional doubleheader at Murray Field on Saturday at 11 a.m.
