Brian Sims has turned 23 double plays this year

The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named Brian Sims and Caroline Sagrera as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their on-field efforts during the week of April 1-7, 2013.

Sims, a junior second baseman from Murphy High School in Mobile, collected seven hits with two RBI, a triple and two stolen bases at Truett-McConnell College this weekend. For the year, he is hitting .309 with 14 RBI and six stolen bases. In the field, he is maintaining a .981 fielding percentage while turning 23 double plays.

Sagrera, a freshman from Baton Rouge, La., struck out 27 Lady Rams in 15 innings and currently leads the NAIA in strikeouts with 264. The right-hander is now 21-3 on the season with a 1.32 ERA over 165.0 innings pitched. She has 11 shutouts with a no-hitter and 19 complete-games so far in 2013. Opponents are hitting just .152 against her

In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
