The 15th-ranked Spring Hill College softball team swept both ends of conference doubleheader from the Faulkner University Lady Eagles by the scores of 5-1 and 6-3 on Tuesday evening at Wynn Field.
Freshman Badger starter Caroline Sagrera (27-3) picked up both wins with two five-inning performances and collected nine strikeouts in the nightcap.
The Badgers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the opening contest when sophomore centerfielder Taylor Webre crushed a three-run homerun over the left field wall with one out in the top of the 1st inning.
In the second game, sophomore catcher Jade Bourgeois enjoyed a 3-for-4 performance with a double, a homerun, a stolen base and two RBI. Sophomore right fielder Shea Blanchard added two hits with a double and two RBI while senior third baseman Mariha Partman had two hits including a solo homer and a stolen base.
Faulkner's (19-25-1, 5-20-1 SSAC West) Avery Mott smacked a run-scoring double in the bottom of the 7th inning of Game Two versus SHC freshman reliever Sarah Bolotte.
Spring Hill (37-9, 15-6 SSAC West) will remain in Montgomery for an SSAC doubleheader on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the No. 7 Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks (38-7, 16-6 SSAC West).
