COLUMBUS, Ga. – The 2013 Spring Hill College baseball team collected 14 postseason awards from the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) as chosen by the head coaches of the 13 member institutions on Tuesday highlighted by sophomore catcher Ryan Stevens' of Theodore, Ala., selection to the All-Conference 1st team.

Stevens hit .335 while starting all 50 games of the 2013 season at either catcher or designated hitter. He led the Badgers with 19 doubles, four homeruns, 34 RBI and a .518 slugging percentage. Behind the plate he cut down 13 attempted base-stealers and committed just one error in 194 fielding chances.

Junior second baseman Brian Sims of Mobile picked up two awards with selection to the All-Conference 2nd team and the SSAC Gold Glove Team. Sims also started all 50 games this season and hit a team-high .337 with 64 total hits, 33 runs scored and 19 RBI. On the base paths, he stole 8-of-9 bases and committed just four errors in 259 chances in the field while turning 28 double plays.

Spring Hill dominated the All-Freshmen Team with five Badgers appearing on the roster. Third baseman Willie Floros of University City, Mo., pitcher Johnathan Billings of Luling, La., pitcher Hunter Nowak from Alpharetta, Ga., right fielder Blake Toscano of Metairie, La., and left fielder Garrett Webb of Gainesville, Fla., each earned a slot on the list of future stars.

Senior first baseman John Hollingsworth of Daphne, Ala., was the SHC representative on the 2013 Musco Lighting-SSAC Champions of Character Team.

Five Badgers won 2013 SSAC All-Academic Team recognition with senior pitcher Casey Adams of Brooksville, Fla, sophomore pitcher Jack Howard of Decatur, Ga., senior pitcher Jeff Keenum from Biloxi, Miss., senior pitcher Michael Moch of Cumming, Ga., and sophomore centerfielder Andy Robbins of Kirkwood, Mo., each garnering the praises.
