COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Spring Hill College softball team won a 4-0 decision over 17th-ranked Brenau University in the opening round of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championship Tournament at R.G. Jones Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Badgers opened the scoring in the 1st inning with a two-RBI double to left-centerfield off the bat of senior left fielder Katelyn Hinson with two outs.

Spring Hill added two more runs in the 4th inning when sophomore right fielder Shea Blanchard ripped a double to left-center that brought in sophomore first baseman Elise deBruler and junior second baseman Raleigh Downs.

Freshman pitcher Caroline Sagrera (29-6) cruised through the first five innings until allowing singles in the 6th and 7th innings. Sagrera allowed just two hits with two walks and 13 strikeouts.

Anna Maness (18-6) took the loss for the Golden Tigers (32-15) with seven hits, four walks and seven strikeouts.

The 15th-ranked Badgers (39-12) will face No. 7 AUM (39-8) at 2 p.m. e.s.t. on Friday.
