KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on Wednesday afternoon that Spring Hill College women's golfer Katie Callahan has been named a 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete.
A junior from Prairie Village, Kan., Callahan is a Biology major and three-year varsity starter for the Badgers. She has played in more than 20 events in three years at SHC.
Since the award was introduced in 1979, a total of 160 SHC student-athletes have received Scholar Athlete recognition from the NAIA.
This year a total of 131 women's golfers were named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
