KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that Spring Hill College second baseman Brian Sims has been named to the 2013 Rawlings-NAIA Baseball Gold Glove Team, as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (NAIA-BCA) All-America Selection Committee.
Sims, a junior out of Murphy High School in Mobile, Ala., started all 50 games played by the Badgers in 2013 and committed just four errors in 259 fielding chances. He compiled 108 put outs with 147 assists while turning 28 double plays on the infield for a .985 fielding percentage.
In his three-year career at SHC, Sims has appeared in 153 games with 152 starts and recorded 686 chances, 311 put outs, 362 assists and 13 errors for a .981 fielding percentage while participating in 89 double plays.
For the seventh consecutive year, a total of nine players were chosen to the Rawlings-NAIA Baseball Gold Glove Team based upon their defensive success and Sims is the first SHC player to receive the honor.
