The Spring Hill College men's and women's basketball teams released their 2013-14 schedules on Thursday morning. The men, under first-year head coach Aaron Niven, will open the year at home on Wednesday, October 30, versus NAIA newcomer Dalton State University from Georgia while head coach Karen McConico's women will begin the year on the road at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) on Thursday, November 7.
The Badger men will face a 31-game slate that includes two exhibition contests versus NCAA Division 1 opponents as SHC will travel down Old Shell Road to take on the University of South Alabama (USA) on December 2 and then face Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La., on December 30. The 18-game Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) slate begins on the road at Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) in Central, S.C., on November 15 with the first home conference game tipping off against the College of Coastal Georgia on November 23.
For the ladies, the 20-game conference season will also open at SWU on November 15, but the SSAC home slate will begin versus Brenau University on November 22 in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Badger women will play a 31-game schedule this year highlighted by two NCAA Division 1 exhibition contests at USA on December 3 and at Southern University-Baton Rouge on December 7.
For both squads, the annual Badger Brawl contests versus crosstown rivals the University of Mobile is scheduled for January 16 while the regular season will wrap up at home with Senior Day festivities on March 1 versus William Carey University. The SSAC Men's and Women's Championship Tournaments will take place in Montgomery on March 5-8.
