FULTON, Mo. – The Spring Hill College women's soccer team saw its three-game season-opening win streak snapped at William Woods University by the score of 4-3 on Saturday night.
SHC jumped on top of the Owls (1-1) with 24:43 to go in the 1st half when sophomore forward Sidi Genus scored off an assist by sophomore forward Courtney Harlan. The Badger made it a 2-0 game in the 35th minute of play when Jamie Townley benefited from yet another entry pass by Harlan to beat the Owl keeper.
William Woods halved it to a 2-1 contest just three minutes later, however, as Rachel Meyer accepted the assist from Jordan McNamara.
The Owls would come out ready to play in the 2nd half as Jessica Varner tied the game at 2-2 in the 53rd minute and Ashley Deckard put William Woods up 3-2 just two minutes later.
Desiree Strief would also add a very necessary insurance goal with 32:28 remaining in the game as Townley for the Badgers cut it to a 4-3 margin with 20 minutes showing on the clock.
The Badgers (3-1) will next face Judson College (Ala.) on Sunday, September 8, at 3 p.m. on Library Field.
