HARTWELL, Ga. – The Spring Hill College women's golf team opened the 2013-14 season with a 1st place finish out of six teams at the Emmanuel College Fall Invitational held at Cateechee Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
As a team, the SHC duffers shot a +102 (333, 345, 678) to take a 3-shot victory over the 2nd place Emmanuel College (339, 342, 681) squad.
Individually, senior Avery Kyle (pictured left with head coach Shane Allen) of Plano, Texas, carded a total of 150 for a final tally of +6 (71, 79) and a 1st place finish over a field of 31 golfers across the par-72, 5800-yard course.
Sophomore Alexandria Ryals of Mobile was tied for 7th place with a +27 score of 171 (84, 87) and senior Katie Callahan of Prairie Village, Kan., finished in 9th place in a score of +30 with a total of 174 (83, 91) strokes. Junior Rachel Failla of New Orleans, La., marked down a score of +39 (95, 88, 183) to finish in 14th place.
Freshman Mary-Grace Pollet from Baton Rouge, La., made her collegiate debut by rounding out the SHC participants and shooting a +72 total of 216 (111, 105) for 31st place.
Spring Hill next takes to the links at the Birmingham-Southern College Invitational in Birmingham at the Highland Park Golf Course on October 5-7, 2013.
