The Spring Hill College volleyball team took a 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-10) conference victory over the Loyola University (La.) Wolf Pack on Tuesday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
Loyola took a quick 2-0 lead to start the match but then saw the Badgers build out a 17-4 advantage mainly due to a 9-point run behind the serving of senior libero Meredith Donald of Mobile who turned a 5-3 lead into a 14-3 bulge.
The second set once again saw SHC run off a 7-point series behind Donald's serving that made a 3-1 Loyola deficit into 10-1 canyon. Spring Hill opened the third and final set with a 12-2 advantage that swelled to as large as 19-7.
Freshman Molly Griffin out of Westlake Village, Calif., led the Badger offense with 13 kills and senior setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., gave away 31 assists. Donald collected 17 digs and served up four of the five SHC aces on the night. Senior middle hitter Sha Sha Buchanan of Mobile stonewalled three solo blocks and assisted on two more.
The Wolf Pack (3-11, 1-2 SSAC) was paced by Eva Allen with nine kills while setter Daniela Leal had 19 assists.
