ROME, Ga. – The Spring Hill College men's golf team finished in 2nd place out of 20 participating teams at the Chick-fil-A Invitational hosted by Berry College at Coosa Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
The Badgers shot a combined team score of 579 (289, 290, +3) over the par-72, 6924-yard course shaving 25 strokes off the score of their first match of the year just two weeks ago. Spring Hill finished just one stroke behind the team champion St. Andrews University (288, 290, 578, +2).
Individually, freshman Wesley Hunter out of St. Luke's Episcopal School in Mobile, playing in just his second collegiate event, finished in a tie for 2nd place with scores of 72 and 70 (142, -2) to close just three strokes behind the individual champion Anthony Amodeo of Oglethorpe.
Junior Robert Bo Cox of Gardendale, Ala., carded a +2 score of 146 (70, 76) for a 10th place tie out of 141 competitors while junior Jordan Portal of Miami, Fla., marked rounds of 73 and 76 for a +5 score of 149 to finish tied for 25th place.
Senior Philip Dugan of Lake Forest, Ill., was 33rd with twin scores of 75 and 75 (+6) as freshman Grant Luisi of Dallas, Texas, shot a +7 score of 151 (78, 73) for 41st position. Sophomore Cade Landeche of New Orleans, La., rounded out the Badger participants with a 10th place finish and scores of 74 and 72 for a +2 total of 146.
Spring Hill's men will next host the annual Badger Invitational at the Spring Hill Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, October 7-8, 2013.
