The Spring Hill College volleyball team used a 15-kill effort freshman Molly Griffin to take a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 26-17) conference victory over the visiting Faulkner University Lady Eagles on Friday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Badgers used a five-point run in the first set to build out a 17-9 advantage and then built as much as a 15-3 bulge in the second set. The Lady Eagles held 3-0 and 5-4 leads in the third set before SHC climbed out to a late 24-15 lead via an 8-3 series that turned a close 16-12 Badger advantage into a Badger victory.
Griffin's 15 kills and 10 digs paced SHC in both categories as senior setter Taryn Nash dished out 34 assists and junior Megan Haber collected two solo blocks and two block assists. Sophomore Mallory Raulerson also hauled in 10 receptions for the Badgers.
Faulkner's Brittnay Renfroe tallied six kills and Morgan Wilson set eight assists.
Spring Hill limited the Lady Eagles (7-8, 3-3 SSAC) to a .023 (22-20-87) attack percentage with just one ace and five total blocks. The Badgers, on the other hand, combined for a .265 (45-18-102) attack percentage with eight aces and six total blocks.
Spring Hill now owns a 12-match, 31-set winning streak.
The Badgers (20-3, 7-0 SSAC) will play the sixth match of a seven-match home stand on Saturday versus the Brenau University Golden Tigers (6-10, 4-3 SSAC) at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center beginning at 9:30 a.m.
