The Spring Hill College volleyball team defeated the Dillard University Bleu Devils 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-10) in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The first set saw SHC turn a 16-8 match into a late 21-8 advantage while the second set was decided after a 10-point Badger run made a 7-7 contest into a 17-7 game. In the third set, sophomore defensive specialist Abby Allard of Belleville, Ill., served another 10-point run for SHC that turned a slim 8-4 Badger lead into a lopsided 18-4 situation.
Junior outside hitter Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., paced the SHC offense with 15 kills while senior setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., handed out 27 assists and two service aces.
Dillard (6-4) was led by Mercades Chevis with 10 kills and nine digs as Astasia Williams tallied 15 assists.
As a team, the Badgers out hit Dillard by a .455 (43-8-77) to -.027 (16-18-74) score and served up eight aces with six total blocks. Dillard recorded just one ace with one block.
Spring Hill's winning streak now stands at 14 matches and 37 sets as the Badgers (22-3, 8-0 SSAC) will travel to Franklin Springs, Ga., on Friday to face the Emmanuel College Lady Lions (15-6, 5-2 SSAC) beginning at 5 p.m.
