ORLANDO, Fla. – The Spring Hill College women's bowling team finished in 6th place out of six teams at the Central Florida Classic in Orlando on Saturday.
A combined score of 4,869 pins over the six rounds of seeding on Saturday left the Badgers out of the tournament's bracket play on Sunday, but head Coach Ben Hoefs was still pleased with the performance of his ladies. "These were some of the top collegiate teams in the country, so I feel we performed well to come within 150 pins of reaching the semifinals in only our second match," he said.
Individually, Rebekah Cowan of Allen, Texas, led the way for the Badgers with a total of 1,063 pins for a 177.17 pin average and 12th place out of 42 bowlers. Miranda Singer of Columbus, Ohio, scored a 174.00 pin average for a 1,044 total and 14th place while Jessica Temple of LaSalle, Ill., knocked over 1, 014 pins for an average of 169.00 and Darian Miller from Slidell, La., totaled 878 (146.33) for 27th position.
