MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Spring Hill College men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) loss to the 9th-ranked Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks at the AUM Soccer Complex on Wednesday evening.
The Warhawks (9-4, 6-0 SSAC) opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Taian Souza scored off a touch pass from Cesar Kestring following a right-to-left entry pass by Alan Harwell. Sebastian Wladyko then added a second AUM goal just three minutes later.
In the 74th minute of play, AUM salted the game away with a tally by Kestring assisted by Christian Holthaus.
SHC sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Files of Clinton, Miss., made six saves against 22 AUM shots in the loss while his counterpart for the Warhawks, Vignir Johannesson, stopped five shots versus 13 Badger attempts.
The Badgers (5-8, 2-5 SSAC) will return to Montgomery on Saturday for an SSAC match with the Faulkner University Eagles (2-8-1, 1-4 SSAC) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon on John Mark Stallings Field at the Dalraida Soccer Complex.
