TIFFIN, Ohio – Spring Hill College senior Alex Looney has been named to the 2013 Preseason All-Independents Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) Men's Basketball Team for NCAA Division II.
Looney, a forward out of Murphy High School in Mobile, averaged 12.97 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a junior while shooting 44.3% from the floor and 72.4% from the line in 29 games.
Spring Hill will open the 2013-14 season on Wednesday, October 30, at 7 p.m. versus NAIA newcomer Dalton State College at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
Since 2004, the ICAA has given recognition to schools of independent status at the NCAA DII level. The membership in men's basketball includes Bluefield State, Oakland City, Palm Beach Atlantic, Spring Hill College, South Dakota School of Mines, Union and Washington Adventist. The awards are chosen by ICAA Director Mike Bond.
