CLINTON, Miss. – The Spring Hill College men's cross country team ran in 4th place out of 9 teams at the 2013 Choctaw Open hosted by Mississippi College on Saturday morning at Choctaw Trails.
In total, the Badgers collected 99 points and ran a total team time of 2:21:16.33 over the 8,000-meter course with an average time of 28:15.27, shaving 30 seconds off their team average of last weekend in Montevallo, Ala.
Sophomore Jordan Travis of Poplarville, Miss., ran the 12th best SHC 8-kilometer time in history at 27:20.07 for 9th place finish out of 70 runners while junior John Russell of Cullman, Ala., ran his career best time and tied the 15th best SHC time in history at 27:33.50 for 14th place.
Sophomore Patrick Lameka of Chicago, Ill., was the third Badger to cross the line with his personal best mark of 28:12.25 and 22nd place overall.
Freshman Seamus Russell of Cullman also ran a career-best with a 28th place finish in 28:47.86, taking almost two minutes off his time of last week. Junior Conner Kirkikis of Kenner, La., was 36th in 29:22.65 while sophomore Phillip Travis of Poplarville rounded out the Badger scorers with a time of 29:33.64 for 40th place.
Sophomore Brennan McLean of Baton Rouge, La., placed 46th in a time of 30:26.21 and sophomore Conner Bueche of Baton Rouge, La., was in 48th place in 30:54.07 to close out the Badger participants.
Spring Hill next runs on Saturday, November 9, at the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championships at Choctaw Trails beginning at 8 a.m.
