GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Spring Hill College women's bowling team finished in 3rd place out of six teams on Saturday at the Florida Gator Collegiate Shootout on Saturday and 4th of 6 teams at the Florida Gators Baker Shootout at AMF Alley Katz Lanes on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Badgers rolled a combined score of 5,878 pins over six rounds for more than a 1,000 pin improvement over the team's previous performance.
Individually, Miranda Singer of Columbus, Ohio, scored a 177.71 pin average for a 1,244 total and 10th place out of 42 total bowlers while Rebekah Cowan of Allen, Texas, tallied 1,208 pins for a 172.57 pin average and 13th place overall. Jessica Temple of LaSalle, Ill., knocked down 1,165 pins for an average of 166.43 and 18th place.
Stephanie Latuso of Mobile scored 837 pins in five rounds for an average of 167.40 for 30th place and Darian Miller from Slidell, La., totaled 800 pins (160.00) over five rounds for 33rd position. Paige Sztabink out of Cold Harbor, N.Y., rolled in four rounds for a total of 624 score, a 156.00 average and 37th place.
In the second event on Sunday, Spring Hill totaled 6,191 pins in a 9-round Baker format for 4th place out of six teams. Individually, Cowan enjoyed a spectacular .971 (33-of-34) performance on her spare conversions to lead the Badger charge.
SHC will next take to the lanes on Saturday, November 9, at the SWIBC II Tournament at Lafayette Lanes in Lafayette, La.
