GULFPORT, Miss. – The Spring Hill College men's golf team finished the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) Fall Invitational with a 9th place finish out of 15 varsity teams at Windance Country Club on Monday and Tuesday to wrap up their fall semester match schedule.
The Badgers shot a combined team score of 611 (308, 303, +35) over the par-72, 6959-yard course to finish 29 strokes behind the team champion Faulkner State Community College (285, 2297, 582, +6).
Individually, junior Robert Bo Cox of Gardendale, Ala., marked down a final tally of 149 (74, 75, +5) to pace the Badgers with a 13th place finish out of 89 golfers. Sophomore Cade Landeche of Luling, La., scored a +8 card of 152 (77, 75) strokes for 23rd place while freshman Wesley Hunter (80, 75) of Mobile and junior Jordan Portal (77, 78) of Miami, Fla., both shot scores of +11 in 155 strokes to tie at 34th position. Senior Philip Dugan of Lake Forest, Ill., closed the Badger scoring at 56th place with a +16 (81, 79, 160) score.
For the SHC "B" Team, senior Spencer Lane of St. Louis, Mo., shot a total of 150 for a +3 score in rounds of 75 and 75 for 19th place and freshman Grant Luisi of Dallas, Texas had a +7 score of 151 (77, 74, 151) for 22nd place. Senior Rickie Lee of Bayou LaBatre, Ala., carded a 157 for +13 (77, 80) and 44th place as sophomore Gerry Portela of Miami, Fla., shot a 166 score of +22 (85, 81) for 72nd place. Freshman Jake Finn of Prattville, Ala., rounded out the Badger side with an 80th place finish in scores of 83 and 87 for a +26 total of 170.
Spring Hill will now wait to resume play during the spring semester in 2014.
