The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named Brian Bodenheimer and Taryn Nash as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their achievements during the week of October 21-27, 2013.
Bodenheimer, a freshman bowler from Kenner, La., missed earning a spot on the Florida Gator Collegiate Shootout All-Tournament Team in Gainesville on Saturday by just one pin following his 6th place finish out of 89 bowlers with a 194.29 average and a total pin count of 1,360.
Nash, a senior setter on the volleyball team from Independence, Mo., passed the 5,000 career assists mark on Saturday morning in the Badgers' 3-0 sweep of Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss. In her four years with SHC, she is a two-time NAIA All-America Honorable Mention selection, a three-time member of the SSAC All-Conference and All-Tournament teams as well as being a two-time SSAC Setter of the Year. She was a 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete and a 2nd team member of the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America team. In 2010, she was the SSAC Freshman of the Year and the SHC representative on the Musco Lighting-SSAC Women's Volleyball Champions of Character Team. Nash currently has 5,036 assists in 475 sets played with 292 kills, 118 aces, 146 blocks and 1,049 receptions.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
